Around the 4*S Hotel Alpin Juwel

The Most Beautiful Sights

A summer at the Alpin Juwel begins at over 1,000 metres above sea level – right where many trails just start. Our hotel is located in the heart of Hinterglemm, meaning the valley with all its adventures, natural wonders, and alpine highlights begins right on your doorstep. For active guests, families, and culture lovers alike, the Salzburg region holds a vast array of rewarding destinations.

Your Holiday Bonus: As a guest at the Alpin Juwel, you will receive the complimentary JOKER CARD directly at reception. It grants you free or heavily discounted access to the summer cable cars and many of the region’s finest attractions.

Right in the "Valley of Games": Highlights on Your Doorstep

Treetop Trail & Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps

Just a few minutes from the hotel lies the Hinterglemm valley head (Talschluss). This is where the Treetop Trail (Baumzipfelweg) – Europe’s highest canopy walk – leads you through the trees. The highlight is the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps, a 200-metre-long suspension bridge hanging 42 metres in the air, offering a spectacular 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains.

Right next door, the Jump & Slide Park and Europe’s largest High Ropes Course provide plenty of thrills – including the Mega Flying Fox, which zips you across the valley head at heights of up to 120 metres.

  • JOKER CARD Advantage: Discounted admission to the attractions at the valley head.

Family Destinations: Montelino, Mount Kodok & Schnitza's Wood Park

Saalbach Hinterglemm is a paradise for families. On the Kohlmais mountain, Montelino’s Adventure Trail guides children through more than 30 puzzle and play stations; a daily highlight is the deer feeding at the Panoramaalm at 10:30 am.

On the Reiterkogel, young detectives are needed to track down the goblin and reclaim his magic hat on Mount Kodok – perfectly complemented by Kodok’s Knowledge Trail on the Hochalm. If you prefer a slower pace, Schnitza’s Wood Park and the Teufelswasser (Devil’s Water) at the valley head offer a wonderful place for carving wood, wading in refreshing mountain water, and relaxing in the rock pool – completely screen-free.

Biking & Action on World Cup-Proven Trails

The Alpin Juwel is perfectly geared up for mountain bikers and is situated right in the middle of Austria’s largest bike region. Following the extensive infrastructure upgrades for the World Championships, top-shaped trails for every skill level await you. Beginners can gain their first experiences at the Learn to Ride Park and the 12er Learn to Ride Area. More experienced riders will find two absolute flow classics: the Z-Line on the Zwölferkogel (directly opposite the hotel) and the legendary Hacklberg Trail on the Schattberg.

Day Trips in the Salzburg Region

If you wish to explore the wider surroundings of the Pinzgau region, our reception team at the Alpin Juwel is always happy to provide insider route tips. Here is an overview of the most rewarding day trips:

  • Grossglockner High Alpine Road: Probably the most famous panoramic road in Europe leads you right into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. At the foot of the 3,798-metre Grossglockner, you will find year-round ice, wild marmots, and pleasantly cool, high-alpine temperatures even in midsummer.
  • Krimml Waterfalls & Water Worlds: Tearing down 380 metres over three stages, these are the largest waterfalls in Europe. A well-maintained viewing path brings you up close to this roaring natural spectacle; the fine mist is also proven to be highly beneficial for the respiratory tract.
  • Kaprun High Mountain Reservoirs: The Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden reservoirs are nestled between the majestic 3,000-metre peaks of the Glockner Group, blending monumental engineering with high-alpine scenery. A guided tour of the dam wall offers fascinating insights into clean electricity generation from hydropower.
  • Sigmund Thun Gorge & Zell am See: In Kaprun, wooden walkways lead you through the deep, dramatic Sigmund Thun Gorge (Sigmund-Thun-Klamm). This pairs perfectly with a stroll through the historic old town of Zell am See and a boat cruise on the crystal-clear Lake Zell. (JOKER CARD: Discounted entry to the gorge & benefits at the lidos/beach baths).
  • Eisriesenwelt Werfen & Hohenwerfen Fortress: The world’s largest ice cave stays cool even on hot summer days, revealing breathtaking ice formations inside the mountain. Right next to it, the Hohenwerfen Fortress towers over the valley, offering daily birds of prey flight demonstrations.
