Nordic Walking in the Glemmtal is the ideal combination of joint-friendly full-body training and an intense nature experience. Around Saalbach Hinterglemm, a vast network of trails awaits you, perfectly suited for athletic walking at a brisk pace — from flat routes in the valley to gentle climbs with mountain panoramas.
While classic hiking often requires sure-footedness on roots and rocks, the region's Nordic Walking network offers well-developed and paved paths. This makes the sport the optimal alternative for anyone who prefers to move quickly on secure ground. The use of poles activates the entire musculature while simultaneously relieving the knee joints — a full-body workout that feels like a nature experience, not a gym session. Many routes are located at an ideal altitude, which further increases the training effect.
The Talschluss (valley end) is the quietest and most diverse part of the region: treetop path, "Teufelswasser" (Devil's Water), managed huts for an authentic stopover — and once you stand here, you’ll understand why the so-called Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps got its name. Along the paths lie the reservoir ponds, crystal-clear mountain lakes that provide the best reason to pause briefly on hot days.
The Schattberg East Summit at 2,020 meters is easily accessible by gondola and offers a 360-degree panorama as a starting point for high-altitude trails.
For those who enjoy botany: The Medicinal Herb Path on the Reiterkogel leads past over 200 native medicinal plants and alpine flowers, all labeled and explained — better than any botanical garden.
We hike these trails ourselves and give you an honest assessment for your training.
🦯 Nordic Walking poles are available directly at the hotel upon request. Every morning, we know what the weather will be like and what condition the trails are in — if you ask, you'll get advice that fits your own physical condition, not a brochure text.
🗺️ Maps are available at the reception. Through the Saalbach Hinterglemm Tourism Association, guided herb, theme, and sunrise hikes are bookable several times a week — registration is handled easily through us.
At the JU-WELL Spa, a targeted sports massage awaits tired legs — anyone who uses it after the descent will clearly notice the difference the next morning. The panorama sauna also offers a direct view of the mountains you have just left behind. In the Vitalschmiede, our kitchen works with regional organic ingredients and fresh alpine herbs — real alpine cuisine without the bells and whistles, for real athletes after real training.
As a guest of Alpin Juwel, the Joker Card is included in your stay. 🚡 The four summer cable cars serving as high-altitude access run at no extra charge — anyone who wants to ride up daily will quickly realize what that is worth. The hiking bus brings you back comfortably to the valley after point-to-point hikes, so you don't have to walk the same way back. Additionally, you get free entry to numerous attractions in the region.
